Privacy Notice for Job Applicants
This notice explains how personal data is collected and processed in connection with applications for employment within ctd.qmat at JMU Würzburg and TU Dresden in accordance with Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

- The purpose of data collection is to lawfully assess your application as part of the recruitment process. To this end, we will store all data you provide us with as part of your application. Based on the data submitted in your application, we will assess whether you can be invited to an interview as part of the selection process. For applicants who are shortlisted, we may collect additional personal data necessary to make a final selection decision. If you are considered for employment, you will be informed separately about the personal data to be collected as part of the appointment process.The legal bases for data collection and data processing are Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, Article 9(2)(b) and (h) GDPR, Article 88(1) GDPR, Article 8(1), nos. 2 and 3, of the Bavarian Data Protection Act (BayDSG) (JMU Würzburg) and Section 11(1) of the Saxon Data Protection Implementation Act (SächsDSDG) (TU Dresden).
- If your personal data is processed and stored electronically, the technical operation of our data processing systems will be carried out by the university computing center and/or the central IT administration.
- We will retain the personal data collected during the application process for at least three months.
If your application is unsuccessful or if you withdraw it, we will delete the data you provided in your application three months after notifying you of the rejection, unless its storage is necessary for the purpose of asserting, exercising or defending legal claims. Deletion will be carried out without delay as soon as this requirement ceases to apply. Data obtained in appeal proceedings for a professorship will be stored for a longer period of time.
If you are hired, you will be informed separately about the regulations applicable at that time regarding the handling of your personal data, in particular with regard to the creation of personnel files; see also No. 3 above. -
We would also like to inform you about your rights under the GDPR:

If your personal data is processed, you have the right to obtain information about the data stored about you (Article 15 GDPR).

If incorrect personal data is processed, you have the right to have it rectified (Article 16 GDPR).

If the legal requirements are met, you may request the deletion of the data or the restriction of processing and object to processing (Articles 17, 18, and 21(1) GDPR).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. If you have submitted an application to JMU Würzburg, objections may be lodged with the Bavarian State Commissioner for Data Protection:

If you exercise your rights as described above, JMU Würzburg or TU Dresden will check whether the legal requirements for this have been met.
If you request the deletion of your application data during the application process, this will be considered a withdrawal of your application.
